Oil processing is one of the most important things you will have to learn in Factorio. It is a research on the game's tech tree and a recipe that is used in the oil refinery -- but it also produces an item that is widely used in all kinds of processes in the game. Factorio. All Discussions Screenshots Artwork Broadcasts Videos News Guides Reviews No. Oil will never run out, but the RATE at which they produce will slow down massively! #1. IamNic. Apr 23, 2016 @ 5:32pm Oil deposits never run out, but the rate on which you can aquire it decrease with time. The Oil Refinery processes crude oil into 3 different fluids: heavy oil, light oil and petroleum gas. Oil products have many uses. Although they can be turned into solid fuel to fuel boilers and furnaces, they are usually used to create plastic bars, which are used in advanced circuits, and sulfur, which is used in more advanced items. Setting up oil processing. Pumpjacks need to be placed on top of the middle of the oil well, which is highlighted with a green box when the pumpjack is held. Pumpjacks produce a certain amount of Crude oil per second, shown on the right, at the bottom of the information panel. Over time this value will decrease down to a minimum of 2 oil/s, so a pumpjack will provide unlimited oil but Pumpjacks extract crude oil from oil fields. Each oil field can be covered by only one pumpjack at a fixed spot. The pumpjack will then output an amount of crude oil per cycle equal to 10 multiplied by the field's yield (e.g. 54 crude oil for 538% yield) per second. Without speed modules, one pumpjack cycle takes one second to complete.
I have read the Factorio Wikipedia but I can't understand what it is telling me. My Oil Refiniery does not have an option for petroleum, only "Basic oil processing.".
Offshore water pumps never run dry, and you can even apply landfill over them to Unfortunately, they need pipe networks laid out to them from the oil refineries, their crude oil is dark grey, heavy oil is red, light oil is yellow, petroleum gas is But yeah, I do agree that producing only heavy from crude at first is Only producing heavy oil but using chem plants to break out light/gas allow and my co-conspirator is hooked on Warframe plus we have run out of A compendium of the most common Factorio game facts, such as build ratios, tips /tricks, and links to further information. I have 3 pumpjacks all producing 0.1/s of oil and these jacks are in the way of where i would like to build. will the oil ever run out or just stay at 0.1/s ? 13 comments Crude oil is a liquid extracted by pumpjacks from oil fields and can be converted to petroleum gas, light oil, and heavy oil by an oil refinery. It can be transported either in pipes, barrels or fluid wagons. You can't run out of oil, there's an infinite supply in each oil field. Put speed modules in your pumps and surround them with beacons for more output. You can also put efficiency modules in your refinery and chemical plants.
Flamethrower ammo change - Crude oil. With Heavy and Light oil behind Chemical science pack, Flamethrower ammo needed to be moved as well or have its recipe changed. Rather hastily we chose to change the recipe for Petroleum gas instead of the oils which does not make much sense, especially as the Flamethrower turret can’t take Petroleum gas.

1 Mar 2016 Either I have too much light oil and my refineries shut down, or I research cracking and run out of light oil and end up with an excess of petroleum gas. Or any
A common idea seems to be to keep the levels of heavy and light oil the same. The reason I don't do this is because I want to maintain a minimum level of each oil, and if I run out of light out, I may subsequently run out of heavy oil. I used to have priority oil tanks, that could not be cracked, and which supplied all my factories. If production exceeds usage, then you may run out of empty barrels. Not a big deal. But, if usage exceeds production, then you may have too many empty barrels which can block the assemblers emptying them from running if they back up too much. then the assemblers wont produce oil and your refineries will run out of crude oil. First of all, I'm not a seasoned Factorio player - unfortunately I had not heard of it before it came to Steam. I've picked up tips here and there, and have come up with a solution for managing my oil products that appears to work well for me. Since oil seems to be an area that many struggle with, I thought I'd share.

Refinery -> Light oil -> Chemlab (cracking) -> Petroleum gas Ref.->Heavy oil->Chemlab(c)->Light oil->chemlab(c)-> Petrogas At least this is how I do it (and using a teeny bit of heavy oil for lubricant) and I get a fair amount of petrogas until crude oil supplies run out AND I do not get refinery backlogs. Factorio > New Players & Game Help I have the oil refinery hooked up to my pumpjack which has crude oil running through it going into the oil refinery but nothing is happening, am i doing something wrong? Jun 17, 2018 @ 8:58pm The oil refinery produces 3 products -- heavy oil, light oil, and petroleum. If you don't empty out all the Note: Get rid of the productivity modules from pumpjacks, use speed modules instead, since oil fields never run out, they eventually settle at 10% yield, or 0.1 Crude oil/sec, productivity will increase the 'windfall' amount, but you get it much slower, and hence total Crude oil provided will be lower at every time point in the future despite
